We prepare individual and family returns from January to April. You bring the documents on the checklist below and spend about half an hour going through them with a preparer, and by the end you know where you stand.

- Photo ID and Social Security cards for everyone on the return
- Last year's return, if we didn't prepare it
- W-2s from every employer
- 1099s: interest, dividends, contract work, unemployment, retirement
- 1095-A if you had marketplace health insurance
- Mortgage interest statement (1098) and property tax bills
- Childcare provider name, address and tax ID
- Tuition statements (1098-T) and student loan interest
- Records of estimated tax payments
- Business or rental income and expenses, if any
- Bank routing and account number for direct deposit
- Any letter from the IRS or Virginia Tax this year
How it works
Book an appointment
Book online or by phone. In February and March we also have evening and Saturday appointments.
Meet your preparer
You spend about thirty minutes with your preparer, who goes through your documents and asks about anything that could change the return.
Sign and file
We e-file the return the same week. Refunds usually arrive two to three weeks after that.
A flat fee, quoted before we start
The fee for most individual returns falls within a set range, depending on which forms are involved. Request a quote and we'll give you the number in writing before we open your file.
