The site is general information, not tax advice

The guides, checklists, tax calendar, blog posts and tax tables on this site are general information. They don’t take your circumstances into account, and reading them doesn’t make you our client. Tax rules change and individual situations differ, so please talk to us, or to another qualified professional, before you act on anything here.

We check the figures we publish against IRS and Virginia Tax sources and show the date we last checked them. Even so, a figure can change after we check it, or contain a mistake. The official IRS and Virginia Tax publications take priority over anything on this site.

Calculators

Our calculators give estimates for planning only. They are not tax advice and not a substitute for a return or payroll prepared from your actual records.

• They use simplified versions of the IRS and Virginia Tax rules, which we describe on each calculator’s page. They leave out credits, deductions and situations that may apply to you.
• They run in your browser. The numbers you enter are not sent to us or stored by us.
• Your actual withholding, tax or employment costs may differ from the estimate, sometimes by a lot.

We don’t accept responsibility for decisions made from a calculator’s result without professional advice.

Becoming a client

Using the site, sending the contact form or emailing us doesn’t create a client relationship. That starts only when we’ve agreed in writing to work together. Please don’t send Social Security numbers, tax ID numbers or tax documents through the site or by email.

Links to other sites

We link to the IRS, Virginia Tax and other sites we think are useful. We don’t control those sites and aren’t responsible for their content.

Using our content

The text, design and graphics on this site belong to Precise Taxes RVA or are used with permission. You may print or share pages for your own use. Please don’t copy them for commercial use without asking us first. The street map drawing uses map data © OpenStreetMap contributors.

Limits on our responsibility

We try to keep the site accurate and available, but we provide it as it is, without guarantees that it will always be available or free of errors. To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for losses arising from your use of the site or reliance on its general information.
